Have you been considering Christian Education for your family? Are you seeking a smaller class size and nurturing environment? What about a dedicated staff that encourages students to learn and support each other? Well look no further, this blog series is for you! Don’t miss out on reading the “Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Attend the GCS Open House” blog series – a five part series written by Superintendent Jennifer McConnell designed to encourage families to learn more about our school and community by experiencing it together at our February 26th Open House!

5 Reason’s to attend the GCS Open House:

2. Meet the Staff

3. Meet the Parents

4. Interact with Current & Former Students

5. Experience the GCS Difference

2. Meet the Staff

Here at Great Commission Schools, our students range from PreK thru 12th grades. Our PreK and Kindergarten classes are combined as well as our 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th. There are four full time teachers in our elementary and one part-time assistant that floats between the combined classrooms. Our elementary students have their core classes as well as Bible class. They also participate in specials such as physical education, computer, art, library, and guidance. Every so often, they are also given the opportunity to experience language instruction whether that be American Sign Language, Spanish, or French, all to whet their appetite for a new language!

Our middle school and high school grades (6th - 12th) have eight full time teachers and ten part time teachers. The middle and high school students change classes every 42 minutes and are set up with a schedule that will help them succeed! If there is a class that we don’t offer, or if it’s difficult to fit a particular class into a student’s schedule, there is also the opportunity for students to enroll in an online course through Alpha Omega Publications and receive high school credits. Several students have also chosen to attend the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center (GACTC) in order to pick up a vocational trade as well!

We make every effort to tailor the education a student receives from GCS to make sure it is of high quality and fit their specific and individual needs.

Now that we’ve finished talking about the first and second reason "Why You Should Come to the GCS Open House," come back next week, when GCS Superintendent, Ms. Jennifer McConnell, shares with us the #3 reason to attend our upcoming February Open House."
