Academic Quiz Bowl

The Bedford / Blair Varsity Scholastic Quiz League began in the fall of 2006. All of the public and non-public high schools in these two counties are eligible to field teams. 

The Bedford / Blair Jr. Varsity Scholastic Quiz League began in the late winter of 2009. All of the public and non-public Jr. High & Middle Schools in these two counties are eligible to field teams.

 

The Scholastic Quiz teams are comprised of up to 10 students from the Bedford & Blair County districts who compete as a team to answer academic questions based on science, literature, history, geography, government, and mathematics. The students must work together to correctly answer the questions in a timely manner.  The winners of the Varsity competition are eligible to move on to compete at the state level.

GCS Student Council offers students in grades 7-12 an opportunity to lead. The purpose of the GCS Student Council is to create opportunities for student involvement by coordinating school activities, promoting school spirit, and providing a channel of communication between the students and school administration. Student Council is charged with the task of serving and involving students in the various clubs and activities offered by the school. Officers are selected in a school-wide election in the spring to serve for the following year.
