Disney's NEWSIES at the Mishler Theatre

Coming April 8th and 9th at 7:00 p.m. to the Historic Mishler Theatre in Altoona is the Great Commission Schools production of Disney's "Newsies," the Tony Award-winning Broadway phenomenon. The show is based on the historical newsboy strike of 1899 that shook the ivory towers of William Randolph Hearst, publisher of the Journal, and Joseph Pulitzer, publisher of the World. It leaps onto the stage with soulstirring music, amazing heart, and stunning choreography.

"Newsies" will be performed by an incredibly talented array of 36 Great Commission School actors, 12 crew/tech members, and 12 musicians, playing the original Broadway orchestrations. The lead roles of Jack Kelly and Katherine Plumber will be played by senior David Pascual and freshman Lily Hildebrand. Featuring the now classic songs "Carrying the Banner," "Seize the Day," and "Santa Fe," "Newsies" is packed with thrills and a timeless message, perfect for the whole family and every audience.
