Last night was our monthly board meeting in which we discussed our reopening plan for the start of the school year. Understand that this is flexible to change given what may happen in our state from now until the beginning of the school year. First, we want to thank you for continuing to partner with us even though we know there are other educational options out there for your child. Our sustainability as a ministry and a Christian school here in the city of Altoona is only possible by the commitment level of our families. We understand that this season we are in is only temporary and we appreciate your dedication to GCS.
We understand from our recent survey that everyone is all over the place with how they feel about the reopening of the schools in the fall and what measures will be taken to ensure student and staff well being. Understand, this is our main concern as well, and we believe we have developed a plan that will fit the majority of the feedback we received. Our pandemic planning team that is comprised of students, parents, faculty, and administration, met Wednesday morning to iron out details and review the plan. The plan was approved at last night's board meeting. Please read the GCS Reopening Plan in it's entirety. If you have questions about it, don't hesitate to reach out.
We will be having a back to school night (more details to come) on August 20th to address the changes before the start of school.
